Gone are the days where sport is only limited to just men. More and more ladies are emerging as a force to be reckoned with in sport industry.
Thanks to the likes of SuperSport’s Carol Tshabalala, who to this day continues to fight for the ‘women in sport’ cause, when seen on a soccer pitch, women are no longer frowned upon, as inadequate in their sporting abilities.
There’s still a long way to go before women are given the credit and recognition they deserve. However with initiatives like GSport For Girls spearheaded by former cricket broadcaster and (current) Radio 2000 broadcaster, Kass Naidoo and her husband Ryk Meiring, this battle is one that will be a thing of a past in no time.
The 8th Annual gsport Awards looks to honour the women that are active in sport and the finalists for the 2013 list have just been announced.
As a woman in sport media this category is close to my heart, and I’m truly excited to see EWN Sport Editor – Cindy Poluta’s name on that list. Poluta will go up against Morning Live Sports anchor, Vaylen Kirtley and Dikeledi Makhongoana of Lesedi FM (SABC).
Public voting is open HERE from 30 October to 13 November 2013. And winners will be announced on 20 November 2013, at the prestigious Wanderers Club in Illovo.
